Who owns the most expensive Stradivarius?
The “Messiah Stradivarius” is considered the most expensive violin globally, with a value of approximately $200 million. It is currently in a collection at the Ashmolean Museum in Oxford, England.
The violin remained in the family of Gabriel Jean Joseph Molitor until World War One. The Molitor violin represents a golden period of Stradivari's work, therefore it reached the price of $3.6 million in 2010, which was the highest price for a violin at that time. The buyer and current owner is Anne Akiko Meyers.

The Lady Blunt Antonio Stradivari - 15.9 million
In fact, it was made by Antonio Stradivari around 1716. In virtually perfect condition, the violin sold for a record price of $15.9 million at auction in New York City.
When the violinist Toscha Seidel stumped up for a Stradivarius in 1924 he boasted that its tone possessed “outstanding power and beauty” and that it was one of the greatest ever made.
The Vieuxtemps Guarneri Violin
This Guarneri del Gesù instrument is now the most expensive violin in the world, selling for an estimated $16million (£10.5million). Its new owner anonymously donated the historic instrument to violinist Anne Akiko Meyers on loan for the rest of her life.

Shortly thereafter, by chance, Bell came across the violin again and discovered it was about to be sold to a German industrialist to become part of a collection.
