Why is it called romance?
The word "romance" comes from the French vernacular where initially it indicated a verse narrative. The word was originally an adverb of Latin origin, "romanicus", meaning "of the Roman style".
They are called Romance languages because they owe their existence to the Romans, who spoke Latin and spread it through most of Europe. All of the Romance languages derive from Vulgar Latin.
Romance comes from Roman, and first meant a story translated into French from Latin (the common language of old Rome), usually about the amorous adventures of chivalrous knights, which is how romances came to be associated with love stories. Now it's used to mean a love relationship, in a story or not.
A romance is a relationship between two people who are in love with each other but who are not married to each other. After a whirlwind romance the couple announced their engagement in July. Synonyms: love affair, relationship, affair, intrigue More Synonyms of romance.
Love is a deep liking and adoration towards a few people we have in our lives. Love makes us go to great lengths for the people we love. Romance, on the other hand, may or may not transform into love. A relationship that is only based on it is bound to end sooner or later.
- Eros: erotic, passionate love.
- Philia: love of friends and equals.
- Storge: love of parents for children.
- Agape: love of mankind.
Romantical feelings can be described as deep emotional interest and connection with another individual that is not purely physical or sexual. One of the first signs is that you wish to be intimate with that individual, but that intimacy doesn't need to be of a sexual nature.
Feeling 'in emotional pain' isn't just you being dramatic. Researchers have discovered that your brain processes emotional upset with the same brain circuitry that processes physical injury. Social psychologist Naomi Eisenberger calls this 'the physical-social pain overlap'.
The giving and receiving of valentines or love tokens dates to medieval times, but the origins of the modern celebration lie in the 18th century with the rise of romantic marriage.
Agape (universal love)
It's the love you feel for all living things without question, that you extend knowingly without expectations for anything in return. It's a very pure and conscious love. It's similar to what we sometimes refer to as unconditional love.
What is the lowest form of love?
He describes friendship as "the least biological, organic, instinctive, gregarious and necessary...the least natural of loves".
Movies try to convince us we'll feel this way forever, but the intense romance has an expiration date for everyone. Expect the passion to last two to three years at most, says Dr. Fred Nour, a neurologist in Mission Viejo, California, and author of the book “True Love: How to Use Science to Understand Love.”

But never forget that men crave romance and connection just as much as women do, even if they experience it differently. Take the time to figure out what's most meaningful to your most important person.
He'll Experience A Sense Of Euphoria
Men in love tend to feel extra happy, which is also due to what's going on in the brain. “When a man falls in love, high levels of dopamine — a chemical associated with the brain's reward center — is released so he will feel a natural high and sense of euphoria,” Schiff says.
As we form a lasting romantic bond, dopamine and norepinephrine stop flowing. They're replaced by hormones associated with social bonding, like oxytocin.
“The most painful thing is losing yourself in the process of loving someone too much, and forgetting that you are special too.”
Being love-struck also releases high levels of dopamine, a chemical that “gets the reward system going,” said Olds. Dopamine activates the reward circuit, helping to make love a pleasurable experience similar to the euphoria associated with use of cocaine or alcohol.
Spanish. Spanish is the most spoken of the Romance languages, with around 75% of today's Spanish vocabulary coming from Latin. After Mandarin Chinese, Spanish is the second most spoken native language worldwide.
Although English has borrowed a lot of words from Latin, it is not a Romance language. Having developed from the mix between the dialects and vocabulary of Germanic peoples (Angles, Saxons, and Jutes) who settled in Britain in the 5th century CE, English is considered a West Germanic language.
One of the most widely spoken languages in the world, one could argue that the Spanish language is the most romantic language in the world, as there are nearly 600 million people saying 'te amo', across the globe.
What does romantic mean in Spanish?
romántico (romántica) m/f.
What is the Most Difficult Romance Language to Learn? Romanian is widely considered to be the trickiest of the Romance languages to learn, due to the challenge that mastering its grammar poses. French and Spanish are sometimes cited as being difficult, too.
French. French is often considered to be the most romantic language in the world. It is another Romance language that originated from Latin. French is a very musical language, and its pronunciation contributes to its melody.
Overall, they concluded that Romanian is the least intelligible language for speakers of other Romance tongues, and that Spanish and Portuguese share the most similarities, with Spanish and Italian being the second closest.
